Stories

Rota Bucks:

  • Jean Manary won $23 in today's raffle, and the Queen of Spades drawing is up to $539.

Birthdays:

  • Tracy Dennis, Maureen Kelly, and Judy Schleder all had/have birthdays this week.  Happy birthday, ladies!

Announcements:

  • Larry announced that Extended Housing is seeking some help with the construction of planters for their residents.  They will supply the materials and funding, but are hoping for some volunteer labor to put them together by the end of May.  They estimate it will probably take a half day.
  • Eileen let everyone know that Bella Donna is hosting an Earth Day fundraiser - it will be on Sunday, April 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 at Harry Buffalo, and will benefit The Sierra Club.

Happy Bucks:

  • Judy gave two happy bucks - one for having a fantastic weekend celebrating her 60th birthday, and another for her children coming into town this week to continue the celebration.
  • Larry gave a happy buck because he is going to Hawaii next week!

Today's program was New Member Speeches, and we heard from Tracy Dennis.  Tracy is Events Coordinator at the Lake Health Foundation.  She has been with the Foundation for ten years, beginning as an Administrative Assistant and then moving into her current role.  She has been with Lake Health for a total of 11 years.  In her early years she moved around a lot; she has been married for 26 years and has two sons.  She gave us some information about Lake Health's upcoming events, and also shared her recent personal journey through bariatric weight loss surgery, and the impact that it has had on her life, including no longer being on medication for high blood pressure, being able to participate in activities with her family, and being much healthier.  She welcomes any questions, or referrals if anyone is interested or knows anyone interested in surgery - she is happy to talk with them, answer questions, etc.  Welcome, Tracy!
