Today's speaker was Carrie Dotson, Executive Director of Lifeline, Inc.  Lifeline is Lake County's Community Action Agency, and their mission is broad: they address the barriers that prevent people from coming out of poverty.  The agency has grown considerably in the last ten years under Carrie's leadership: they operate numerous programs, including utility assistance, rental assistance, help with job training, a nutrition program (in partnership with LCGHD), tax clinics (in partnership with the IRS), and the 2-1-1 line.  2-1-1 is an information and referral line for services in the county - people in need of help can call to get direction about what programs/agencies might be able to help them, and people who want to help (e.g., volunteer, donate) can find out what options they have as well.  There is so much more information about Lifeline - please take a minute and check out their website at www.lclifeline.org
